ABOUT

Australian actress Alana de Freitas was born in Melbourne and began acting at age nine with the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy, and continued right through her schooling, receiving her Victorian Certificate of Education for Drama Studies with the Council of Adult Education. She continued her study with Screen Actors, before moving to LA to pursue acting professionally. There she has studied at the Groundlings School, Ivana Chubbuck Studios and the Beverly Hills Playhouse.

Her first glimpse into professional acting came when she appeared in Michael Rymer’s 2002 vampire feature, 'Queen of the Damned'. In 2007, Alana gained a position with ‘LifeFunk TV’ which saw her branch out into presenting. As a roving reporter reviewing nightclubs, bars and restaurants, Alana was able to develop her own segments and work on content and scripting. She also conducted regular vox pops with the unsuspecting public which forced her think on her feet and develop strong ad-libbing skills. This led to Alana producing another segment: sourcing new talent in the fashion industry and conducting interviews with up-and-coming designers.

Alana has appeared in TVCs, music videos, short films, and feature films. In addition to this, Alana was a lead throughout the first season of the sitcom 'Snowpeck’ (unfortunately not picked up for syndication), which follows a group of friends and the antics they get up to in running a production company. Additionally, Alana appeared in Australian bushranger biopic, ‘The Legend of Ben Hall’.

Alana made her writing debut in 2017 with the short, ‘Infidelity’, which saw success on the festival circuit. She has followed this up with her first feature-length screenplay, ‘Before the Dawn’, which she produced and starred in - now available exclusively on Amazon Prime.

Her most recent work includes a starring role in the horror feature film ‘Bashira’ which will be released in 2022 – directed by Nickson Fong (Academy Award winning VFX Artist) and produced by Steven Krone (president of Village Roadshow for 15 years). She is also set to star in the upcoming comedy feature ‘Cash Collectors’ alongside Michael Madsen, Angie Everhart and Johnny Messner.
